Good value AFAICS - my daughter had one about the same size and did not lose interest for a few years. We had guppies in it and they are self perpetuating - they give birth to live babies and they are the cutest little things!!What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0

don't you always need a pump to put oxygen in the water?
or can we conclude from the reference to filters it includes a pump as thats what the filters are for?
thanks - clueless!
Short answer is that it looks like it includes a little fluval type powered catridge filter.
If so the water is pumped through the filter media.0 -

Hope the desk is strong enough. The water will weigh about 50 kilos or 8 stones. Also you will spill water , so the surface will get spoilt.
Looks a good piece of kit for the money.0 -
Hi
my son got this last year for christmas and I think its a lovely little tank.
All you need to add is some plants, rocks, gravel, water and fish. Oh and water treatment drops - but shop around as the prices cary a hell of a lot.
The filter is combined as an air pump too which saves on space but that means it does have to be cleaned more often.
We have a small shoal of a few neons and glowlights a couple of swordtails a gourami pair and a plec (he's my favourite - he's shy and hides in his cave mostly but he keeps the tank really clean). Remember to add the fish a couple at a time.
We have had to replace the heater a few weeks ago as it packed in but it only cost about £12. I think the tank is a nice size but it is definately a starter tank and it does get a bit addictive and I would like a larger tank but dont have the room.

You would need a proper stand, the water alone would weigh 56Kg, add in gravel plus ornaments and you could be hitting 60Kg, don't trust a desk, it's not made for the job.0 -

Yes, includes heater/thermostat, thermometer food and filter which contains the pump.0 -
Just a thought, are you sure you want to start with tropical fish? Coldwater fish require a little less care and are generally a little more hardy. Of course there's nothing to stop you using this tank for coldwater fish but something smaller & easier to maintain might give you a chance to see how keen the childer are.
I would totally disagree with you... I have cold fish well they are fancy goldfish called black moors. They are harder to keep than tropical, I have to had swim bladder, fin rot etc. Goldfish are very messy too, they need a good filteration system because they are notoriously dirtier as it were than tropical. Also fish per litre you can put more tropical than fancy goldfish. I started off with 3 fish in an hexagonal tank which was so small. I now have 6 black moors in a 6ft tank and really they need a little more space. Black moors can grow huge, I have seen them about 8" in length.:A Totally addicted to MSE :A0
