Help needed! 'printer not responding message'

I recently had to take my Canon 1p4200 to a computer shop because of a paper jam that needed a technician.
Having got that sorted, paid about £20, the printer did not work - kept getting message' not responding'.
I rang the repairer who said, check cables, plug/unplug, restart and if all those fail, reinstall.
When I reinstalled, the printer worked.
A day or two later, the problem has happened again, and this time the reinstalling trick doesnt work.
Any ideas, tips, please? I want to try everything before having to buy a new printer/scanner.
Many thanks!

Have you tried plugging something else into the PC USB port that the printer uses - e.g. a USB pendrive - to see if that works?
If not, you may need to uninstall/reinstall your USB hub & port devices.0 -

I will give that a try - hopefully when I have bit of time in the next few days.
Thanks!0
