Can't quite put my finger on it, but I'm sure there's more to this post than meets the eye.

    Something we aren't being told.

    Could be wrong though. <shrug>
  • If I had something to hide I would not been on here wasting your time and my own unless I had nothing better to do with my time, which I do. I thank everyone for their advice and am keeping my fingers crossed for my mortgage with the Abbey. I just came on here completely honest and open for a bit advice. Opinions4u maybe you should keep your unhelpful ones to yourself? Just my opinion!
  • Also I have just looked at previous posts by Opinions4u and it has become clear that you have links with the Halifax!! Maybe OpinonofHalifax would me more apt hahahah!

If you are having carpets fitted at a cost of £3000 but are not paying for them until completion could this be showing as a further loan on your credit report? Or at least it could have generated a credit search by Parrismon?

  • Possibly but we had accounted for the £3k within the original mortgage and Persimmon have definately not done a credit search. I personally think that Halifax have changed their borrowed terms and maybe we no longer fit within their affordability, its the only reason I can think of and believe me I have racked my brains!

Quote Opinions4u maybe you should keep your unhelpful ones to yourself? Just my opinion!.......As is his!
I can sense your frustration Charliebros, however if you decide to go on an open forum you have to be prepared to take the good with the bad.........
What links does he have with the Hally? His post says "I have worked in financial services previously" !!!

  • I know that Feisty but I just sort of think what is the point of him saying that, if you think that then fair enough but just keep it to yourself. People come on here for advice/help not unhelpful / pointless 'opinions', well I did anyway. If you look through previous posts you can clearly see that Opinons4u uses every opportunity to big up the Halifax and knows everything about them.

You do not get "advice" on here, it is people's opinions and he is as entitled as you to post.
I am an adviser and at times i have the same type of comment said to me when it is something someone doesn't like, however on the occasions they do I get a "thanks"
You came on an open forum, you can't select who says what.

The new carpets were purchased through Persimmon who are fitting them,

    Does this help?

New rules have come into force to stop mortgage lenders becoming the victims of over-inflated property valuations.
From now on, developers and builders must reveal if they have offered buyers incentives, such as cash-backs, fitted kitchens or paid-for legal fees. Lenders are worried these incentives have led to some properties being sold for more than they are worth

You could put a poll on here and ask and you would find some would recommend a particular lender, another person would say steer clear. It is all down to your own personal experience as to whether you would recommend an "institution".
I shudder when I know I have to deal with the Woolwich but sometimes they have very good offers. I like dealing with NR, but deals are not very competitive. I like dealing with HBOS. RBS drive me mad! I'm sure plenty would disagree with me and others will agree. As I said it's a personal thing.............
With regards to your NR mortgage, you will only be tied in for those 6 months because you took 1k HWC's (Help With Costs) if you wanted to you could move.

Thanks I know fully about my help with costs what is strange is that is is not 6 months in my agreement is is 4 months and 6 days. I have to weigh up if I move will I save £1000 in that amount of time - always no, now the SVR (NR) has come down. I plan to keep looking and try and get a deal ealry in the new year starting on 6 June. I am just confused who with as due to issues with NR I want to check out any institituion prior to me becoming a customer of theres. I do not not think I would have took a mortgage with NR If I knew there books were bad. The banks are allowed to check us out we should be given the same rights.
