all the jobs i have had i have been treated as staff and recived full pay when off sick.
Ive mainly worked in Accoutancy practice and the construction industry. Always rec'd full pay when the manual workers always got SSP.
This is usual in most copanies but nowadays it is changing to paying staff SSP.0 -

Sorry GOLFER, you refer to most companies, but then state that this is only from your own limited experience. I would be careful to make such sweeping statements without being able to back them up.Gone ... or have I?0 -
Indeed - it would be useful to have back-up evidence. I am "staff" not a "manual worker" and have just sat here and thought "What!!!!! - OHMYGOD" - though, in fairness, I dont agree with different work conditions for "staff" and "manual workers" - I believe everyone should get "staff" conditions.
Certainly seems to prove the point that EVERYONE needs to have a bit of savings as back-up in case now - and it is true that many in "staff" jobs just dont think like that....Basically....the thought would never cross many minds (mine included!) that our pay wouldnt continue as normal if we were off work sick....so we do need to know if employers are cutting our conditions.0
