BEST PIZZA BASE EVER (according to OH and friends - OK they might be biased....
You will need a breadmaker. But seriously, this recipe is so good it's worth buying a breadmaker just to make it. Just think of all the money you will save on pizzas!
Bung ingredients in breadmaker bowl in the order listed.
1 cup water
1 tbsp butter
2 tbsp sugar
1 tsp salt
2.75 cups strong white flour (cheapest SWF is from Tesco or Lidl. You can economise still further by using 2 cups SWF and .75 cup ordinary cheapest white)
1 tbsp dried yeast
Use lowest setting (9 on our MR breadmaker).
I am really serious about this - there are some giveaway breadmakers out there at the mo, in the sales. (I would recommend trying the recipe which comes with your own bm first, though)
PS Not as good, but you can get very cheap instant pizza base mixes from supermarkets - dry ingredients just add water. Cost about 27p last time I looked. Should be somewhere near the flour and stuff, with other things like pancake mix :cool:Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -
Thanks to everyone, it seems I just am not looking in the right places. thats what happens when I go shopping, I just put my head down, & dash round trying to do it as quickly as possible. I'll take more time this week. I would have a bash at making my own base, but my culinary skills are little better than my shopping skills. Thought I couls at least mangage NOT to ruin pizza topping though. There again:smileyhea A SMILE COSTS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING0
