Looking for Some Support

Hi guys, im a regular on the competitions board some of you might know me by now. My names Nicola. Im married with 3 kids, age 9, 2 and 3 months.
Me and my hubby have got ourselves into some debt since we moved in together and now were finding each month a struggle. Im really getting myself into a right state about it and i know to some it might not seem a lot but were in £11,500 debt and were really just getting by every month.

I think im suffering from post natal depression too which doesnt help matter as im stuck in the house all day while hubbys at work, i worry all day about the debt and try to decide the best way out. Get myself into a flood of tears at times.

So tonight i started drawing up a list of all the debt and all the monthly outgoings etc, and ive decided to cut up all the credit cards and anything we had like that. As of this moment i vow to be debt free within the next few year. I know its possible, but i just have to make sure that i only buy things that are essential. So i hope to keep you all updated on our situaltion and hopefully have some new low totals to report.

Good luck to all you debt busters out there :T

Well done skint. Are you getting any help for you pND? Please go and see a doctor, I know what it's like and you need to go and talk it through with someone. Don't feel that you're making a fuss or tht 'this can't really be PND because...' that's what everyone thinks.

On a different note, come and join us on the 'clear £20k by christmas 2009' thread. It doesn't have to be £20k (I'm trying to get to £10k) and it really focuses yourm ind every time you're about to do some unnecessary spending..

    Welcome to the board skint.

Congratulations on your bubs. If you think you have PND it is really important you speak to your doctor. I know how this illness can effect people and with the right medication you will be amazed at the difference. You need to get you sorted before you can take on the stress of the debts.

Not sure if you have been on this board much but if you have the best place to start is with a SOA listing all your incomings and outgoings. Heres a linky to a place where you can fill it all out and then post on here http://www.makesenseofcards.com/soacalc.html.

Good luck and stick around we're a great bunch here :T

I just wanted to say a huge Good Luck!!!

And well done for getting started - making the list of outgoings etc.

As others have said, you need to talk to your midwife about PND. This will hopefully help you feel more positive all round.

Money is money. Health and happyness for your family is more important.
    Looking forward to the future.

A great way at only buying the essentials if via the £4k challenge. Or though this years challenge is almost over, it will be starting again in 2009, and a few weeks practice/planning is always a good thing. And everyone is a friendly bunch on the thread.

    Welcome to the board!

I was in a similar situation - had my lightbulb moment while off on maternity leave. You have done the right thing by cutting up all the cards. I am so glad I don't have credit cards anymore.

    Good luck
