Can i ask who is likely to get the job?

Hi.
I went for a job interview last week and was then asked to go into the store for a short trial. At the end of it, i was told i was one of three candidates having the trial and they would let me know if i was to go for a second interview with the regional manager.
I am expecting to hear shortly and was just wondering if i could ask some questions first.
I have received no feedback on how i have perfomed so far, and in fact during the trial i didn't feel any positive vibes from the area manager. If i am asked for a second interview (and i feel it is likely all three of us will be asked) could i ask the area manager on the phone how likely it is i will get the job? I would have thought at this late stage in the recruitment process that they will have a preferred candidate in mind and i hate the thought of going for a second interview if it is unlikely i will get the job.
I would appreciate any feedback on what i should do. I am not quite sure of the correct "etiquette"!

I'd say your negative attitude will actually prevent you getting the job if you don't have some faith in yourself and act like you actually WANT it!
They wouldn't bother calling 3 candidates back unless they all had potential, and I doubt they have anyone in particular in mind.
Do you have an email contact? If yes, I would email them, thanking them for the trial, and asking if it would be possible to have some feedback on your performance, as you very much enjoyed the trial. If you have no email contact, then you could always phone and ask for feedback. It makes you look keen like you WANT the job.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
It would be extremely inappropriate to ask for this sort of information. Once the entire interview process has completed and you have been advised whether you have been successful or not, that is the time to ask for feedback.
You do come across as a bit defeatist. The fact that you are in the top 3 should make you feel positive and excited about the role, not wondering whether you should bother continuing with the interview process! Getting a job requires a lot of effort and hard work.0 -
I agree with the above. It is not good etiquette to ring up and ask that kind of question.
I think it's always best to put yourself in the shoes of the potential employer. If you had a phone call where someone was asking how likely they are to get the job would that put you off them as a candidate, even if previously had a good chance? It would me.
If you want the job then if you are invited for second interview (how do you know the liklihood that all three of you would be asked?) then go along and do your best to sell yourself. You don't know the area manager concerned, he may be one of those people who doesn't give much away.
It is almost certain that if you are all invited to second interview they have not got one person in mind for the position. You will all be in the running with equal chance.0 -

This would really give a bad impression i think. You need to show confidence in interviews (but be careful not to be arrogant) and this shows that you are doubting weather you are the best for the role0 -
Hi everyone.
Thanks for the comments, you are all right! I guess i am being defeatist, i will change my attitude and be confident and enthusiastic! Thanks again.:T0
