I spotted a mouldy mark on some vinyl wallper. The paper was damp, and I peeled it away from the wall where there was a black patch. The black patch wiped off, and the paper has now dried out.
Does anyone have any ideas what I can try to clean it? The front side of the paper still has a grey tinge to it. I'd normally use bleach, but have a feeling that the paper will dissolve in front of my eyes! I've hunted for other posts about this but couldn't find anything.

This sort of damp patch is usually caused by condensation so in addition to cleaning it you need to do something to stop it happening again.
The cause might be a lack of heating or insulation or it could be not enough ventilation or a combination of all 3.
If you don't cure the problem it'll just keep coming back I'm afraid.0 -
I get the same problem. I need to re-plaster my whole outside wall, but for the moment I use Astonish mould cleaner which seems to work on wallpaper as a temp fix.NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0

I'd just use flash with bleach, very dilute bleach or milton, dont rub too hard and open the windows to dry it out after. be careful not to get it in your eyes though when you apply it.
You could also use sugar soap but this wont kill the mould.
I agree you need to ventilate you room better or cut out sources of moisture like drying laundry indoors, cooking and breathing (some of which are easier to cut out than others!)0 -
Thanks for all the helpful replies. I've already bought a dehumidifier, which has proved to be much better than I thought .
I've tried sugar soap, but that hasn't worked. I didn't want to splash out on a proprietary cleaner until I'd checked here.
The problem was caused by a builder/cowboy sealing a drip tray on the outside of a window frame. Hopefully now it's dried out, the problem has been resolved.0 -
Here is an interesting article on Condensation and its effects.
http://www.harfordsonline.com/downloads/condensation%20info.pdfI used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0 -
