Hi, you should see a Solicitor about perhaps regularising this. How much did you borrow? Was it a loan or a gift? Is it for your mothers benefit that you live in with her or yours? if it was a loan over how many years was it agreed etc. if it was a gift on the other hand and your mother dies within 7 years potentially it could have Inheritance tax consequences.
has your mother made a will? Who are the executors and benficiaries?
There areloads of things to think about.0 -
Your brother sounds a bundle of laughs.
First of all, it depends on your mother's estate. Has your mother made a will? I am sure that arrangements can be made within it that will resolve the problem.
Dont forget, presuming that there are only the two of you, that half the money would be yours anyway.
Is your brother offering to do half the caring?I am a former Broker, former IFA and former compliance officer, for my sins.
However, I have since seen the light.0 -
What arrangements did you make with your mother? You probably need to get this formalised, so that if she dies, everyone knows what is happening.
As for your brother, i am afraid people can get very nasty when they think that someone is getting money that they expected to beable to access. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0
