Green christmas presents

hi,

My dad has become very enviromentally friendly, he bought no less than 3 wind up laterns awhile ago as he absolutely loves them!

Normally for Christmas I get him a charity gift donation but this year I thought I might get him something enviromentally friendly. I've looked at various ideas such as a solar powered phone charger, and a water powered alarm clock but the phone charger seems a bit of a phaff tbh and the alarm clock is apparently rubbish as a alarm.

I guess i'm looking for something he would actually use and is good at what its supposed to do...So what in your opinion would you appreciate for christmas in the enviromentally friendly vein...

  • How about a solar powered battery charger (for household batteries) or one of those kettles that does just one cup in a few seconds or an OS green cleaning kit. Does he like brewing wine or beer? How about brewing equipment and a book on how to make it from scratch rather than using kits.

I guess it depends on your budget really. Maplins and places like that have a fairly decent range of solar powered items, might be worth a look.

Hope it's given you a bit of inspiration.
I won't buy it if I can make or borrow it instead

Is he a gardener? A green gardener can never have too many compost bins.
  • No, he turned his yard into a second drive for his partners car ....

Im beginning to think that the solar powered phone charger will be the best idea and maybe so choccies or summat.

"Bye Bye Standy" sockets. Solar clock. Eco stapler. Fleeces/Under fleece for bed/moutain hat/fingerless gloves/body warmer (warm person = less heating/cost/emissions). Rechageable batteres and charger. Solar charger. Small solar setup. Energy monitor. Bike.

The real greeness of some of them might be questionable, but hey ho.

What about no christmas present. Nothing is more environmentally friendly than something that doesn't need to be made, transported, wrapped, or stored.
