Hi Taxi
Your first post makes absolutely terrific reading! I'm sure that you'll have a really successful 2009. You and many of the DFWs on this site are a real inspiration - if I can achieve what you achieved during 2008, I could be Debt Free by Christmas 2009!!!
Enjoy the journey....... xx0 -
Thankyou nodebtdiva...It's amazing what can be achieved when we put our minds to things.
If it's any help to anybody here is how I do things.
(1) It's always worth looking at any DDS to see if you can save any money there.
(2) Only buy stuff when it's a necessity rather than a want.
(3) Try to buy carefully on the shopping front.
(4) Do surveys etc to gain some vouchers and use these for christmas presents throughtout the year especially during mid year sales.
(5) Pay any surplus left at the end of the month, week or whatever off the debt however little it is as it soons mounts up.
(6)Use cashback CCs where possible but always pay off in full.
(7) save any 1p,2ps and 5ps and then pay off a bill.
These are a few of the things I do off the top of my head if that helps anybody.
My totals are slow at the minute as I'm trying to build enough funds in the bank for dec and jan bills without hitting the o/d and this month have had a few vets bills and another one wednesday and friday.
Just been speaking to DD and we have decided that we are going to split the cost of christmas dinner between all of us so that we nobody is landed with the full bill.So that's another worry sorted.0 -

and long may it rein ...sometimes it is easy to over think things and before we know it we are in a downward spiral ...action however does help ...getting the tax sorted must be a relief...i am in the process of starting and need to get sorted with the national insurance and tax stuff etc so its gonna be fun fun fun for me lol0

The best tip I can give you is set up a DD for your NI and to open a seperate savings account for your tax. When you work out your takings minuus the expenses put 20% of that in a savings account + a bit extra if you can and then at least you'll have the money plus a bit of interest.
Nothing worse that the stress of having a large tax bill and no money to pay it.0 -
thanks ....i think the ddm with national insurance will deff make life easier ...also the savings account idea is good too i certainly dont want a tax bill in cant afford that...you not able to sleep?0
-
No..can't sleep as fell asleep at 9pm until 11.10pm when DD came home from work.0
