We're the same age Taxi (except I'm a month older ;) ) and I never saw a computer at school either. I always worked in offices where we used to type on typewriters and send printed memos instead of emails. It seems like another age now.

I'm not bad on computers now but I wouldn't know how to post a photo on here either. Pania told me once, but it involved saving the photograph somewhere else first so I was lost at the first step.

I can't do the photo thing either and it took me ages to be told (many times) how to do a link in a post!

I think the govt should provide free courses for everyone over the age of 35 to learn basics eg spreadsheets, copy and paste etc so that we have a chance of keeping up with our kids!

Ah, the ZX Spectrum. I remember that! Not from primary 7, but from my late 20s  I win the old stakes every time  first main job I had I used a golfball typewriter, and even then it cost £700  Less than my beautiful dinky little Dell laptop.

Hope your day goes well, Taxi.

Thanks all...at least you all know how to make me feel better.I feel so stupid sometimes.I will make a point of learning all this stuff though at some point as it's useful.
Was really quiet today on the taxi so have come home early..think everyone must be in bed with hangovers today as it was non stop all day yesterday and last night.
We're trying to earn the bill money for the rest of december and the whole of january in this couple of weeks..I banked £555 this morning and this is just thursday and fridays take and only the bank notes as I haven't done the change yet...theres also the credit card payments to come in as well so looking good so far.
I've done my scratchcardand it was 10p and updated my paypal with new bank account and changed password as I had forgotten it as I'm only 100 points off a £15 lightspeed payment.
Think I'm going to give up on pigsback as that seems to be a waste of time the last few months.

Pigs back has been really awful. I keep trying to get an M&S voucher and you need a code off your mobile. I can't get reception at home so it won't let me do it.

Well done on all the takings, it all seems doable to get everything banked before your hols.
I notice that the local Taxi firms are having offers of time and a half over Christmas as opposed to the double time;Is your firm having similar offers?

We're already on a lot lower than the other firms in Blackpool. We are about £1.60 cheaper on christmas day boxing day etc and that's off the starting price compared with Blackpool ones so hopefully word has got out that we're the cheapest firm and then we can have loads of new customers..that's the plan anyway.
  • just popping in...lol re the comps - if you can email a photo of hound with hoop amd happy to sort it for you me lovely! Pap told me loads of time and I still couldnt get it!! Anyone seen her of late thinking about it...Good re the takings. Can you explain the scratchards someone?

Hi Taxi, pleased you had a busy couple of days...hope OH is busy tonight.

ISOM, there is a thread on the gambling board about the scratchies. I use 2, takeabreak (bingo) and Butlins (bingo) you have to deposit £10 and then you can do the free scratchcard, as soon as your balance goes over £10 you can make a withdrawal to get your £10 deposit back ;) then you just log in each day and sometimes on the butlins one, they do a double card.

Thanks ISOM..if you give me time I will do that.Don't know when at the moment as since I've had to have this computer fixed and reload everything I haven't got the outgoing e-mail working for some reason..it's on my list of todo things but will do it shortly.
Have just wrapped the pressies and done the cards so that's another job done.
I haven't phoned OH yet tonight so don't know how busy it is.
DD had a good feedback today at work for the childrens party she organised there. The parents and kids really enjoyed it.It must have been a right sight Santa playing pass the parcel and playing musical mats..they plkayed that reather than musical chairs as some children were small and she thought it was too dangerous to use chairs. So seeing as it was a gym they used mats instead taking one away at a time but when there was only one left JJ and his little friend grabbed one from the back of the and put it back down and said look we've got a mat. They had the room in stitches...all the kids enjoyed it and she came under budget as well so the gym are pleased with her.The parents said it was good as well...lol
