Correcting details on credit file.

I've started to look at my credit file to put things write. i am currently looking at my equifax file and it shows most of my debts. (still waiting for the experian one to appear in the post)

I'm confused about the current status that is showing and what these should say .. any advice would be greeatful as to what these should be corrected to .. ?

example Halifax seem to be very naughty with updating

I have been paying and querying my halifax debts for over 18 months on a DMP however all three of my Halifax debts state that ther urrent status is D default although i have made a Vooluntary arrangement to pay. ? should they not state VA or AP arangement to pay ? rather than D ?

my largest loan £10,326.00 with halifaxs shows as D and hasn't been updated U for three months although all three debts with Halifax are now with Blair oliver and Scott who i've been paying for eighteen months (the amount i pay to this loan is currently now higher that the original payment amoutn

should i ask that they are changed to VA or AP or changed to a green 0 as i am still paying each time on time at an agreed amount which is it best for me to ask them to change it to.. ?

I alos have an accoutn that was pened in my name but not by me .. ,matter previously resolved with Avon cosmetics.the account shows as satisfied although i never applied for the account (should i ask them to correct it ?)

? big posting i know but help would be appreciated.. ?

  • I can understand your confusion regarding the Halifax debts however it would appear that the entries are correct. They report based on what you should be paying not the reduced payments they have agreed to in the short term, as far as I am aware their is no such rating as VA or AP. If you have defaulted on these accounts they will remain showing as default until the default balance has been cleared - all that will change is the balance.

The Avon account though is a different matter - if, as you say the account was not yours then you need to make sure they remove the entry completely from your record. They are obliged to do this.

    Good luck.

Avon wouldnt have been a credit account that you applied for if you have ever been an avon representative (IE walked the street pushing books through doors) you are automatically given an account to put your orders through on?

In some cases the creditor will update the file to show a VA / AP is in place, however they are not obliged to do so as they are still technically reporting a true status i.e the account was defaulted, it is the same when an account is satisfied, i.e the "D" stays there, but is appended by a satisfied mark.

They will also not amend these to show "o" or green marks as the account is technically closed regardless of any regular payments being made

Are you suggesting the account was fraudulently obtained in your name?, if this is the case and you have reported it as such to the police, then the entry in its entirety should be removed
 It’s hard enough remembering my opinions - without remembering my reasons for them

the account was fraudulently opened by an avon rep that's all resolved police and all however, i didn't know if i could ask them to remove it ?

maybe i'll ask if they can update to VA or AP they can only say no !

    thanks guys
