Archos AV500

Dixons/Currys recently had the Archos AV500 in stock at £299. I finally decided to take the plunge and go for one last week.

Off I march to my local Dixons armed with the requisite £299....only to find the b*****ds have put it up to £399 .

So my question is, does anyone know where I might still be able to get an AV500 for £299?

Any clean and sensible suggestion much appreciated.

I'm after the 60GB version....all I can think is that £299 was a promotion price for the 60GB model in Dixons and the promotion ended last week, as I've looked long and hard since and can't find anywhere that can match that price.

But thanks for your efforts anyway...much appreciated.

Oh didnt realise there was a 60gb version. I read some reviews of teh 30gb and I heard a negative commenst about the quality of the screen.

AV700 is nice, but way too big for my liking....plus its out of my price range. I like the AV500 as its small enough to be pocketable (albeit in big pockets...lol), but really want the 60GB version not the 30GB. If I'd known the Dixons/Currys £299 price was only an offer, I would have bought it earlier, but there was no indication in store that it was a special offer price

Go into Dixons and ask them to look on the computer for promotions. I got mine (3 days after the sale price had ended and it had gone up to £399) for £319 with a set of travel speakers which retail for £30-40

Got mine from QVC for £450.
This was the 100GB system with an extra battery and full tv connection kit, remote control etc.

Apparently, there could be some aggressive price cutting this year as the market hots up.

(And every time I see that I spent £450, I cringe. Fantastic machine, but what was I thinking spending that amount of money on a gadget????)

Just come back from Costco and the AV700 is there for £299 plus VAT. Is that a good price?
