Get a intel centrino for your budget as it's a better working processor, lower working temp than amd chips. I actually just got myself the amd 1.8ghz acer 3003 from comet for £479.99(up @£499.99 now.). It is a good price laptop for my requirements.

That Acer seems to be £649, not £749, not too bad. I do, however, want to get a system with dedicated graphics card (not shared memory).
