Whats the first thing you do when loosing your job?
Having loosing my job unexpectedly, whats the first thing you do obviously after signing on for jobseekers allowance. Im looking for work in the building trade (which is where i worked before) without much luck.
What is bothering me is all the oustanding debts i have with loans, credit cards etc. Im not going to be able to afford the payments on benefits so how do i go on with all that.
Any help advice appreciated.

I came into this world with nothing and I'm gonna leave with nothing.

Hi Andy - sorry to hear about your job...You have signed on - thats the first step...not sure about getting more work but you need to contact all your creditors, tell them about your situation and offer them reduced payments. We actually only gave ours £1 each until we got jobs...
You may be as well contacting CCCS or payplan or national debtline..
Also what kind of work do you do in the building trade. If you are handy howabout going self employed or being a subbie....Quality is doing something right when no one is looking - Henry Ford

If you are handy howabout going self employed or being a subbie....
When i say loosing my job, by that i mean i have been classed as self employed, but have sub contracted work off my brothers buisness for the last 6 years or so.
I do drylining work ( fixing the plasterboards to the walls/ ceilings) then the plasterers skim the boards.
I have tried phoning around other plastering firms, and with the housing market being in such a state i have found it hard to find any new work. My brother has done well to keep me going as long as he has, but even he cannot pluck work out of thin air even for me as well as all the others he gave work too.I came into this world with nothing and I'm gonna leave with nothing.0
