  • Hi Severussnape

I had a question about why your mortgage payments are so high but looking back to the beginning I now see you had remortgaged initially before building up the rest of the loans etc so I guess this is why.

If you want to keep your debt probs to yourself then fair enough - I know they say a problem shared is a problem halved but everyone has their own opinions and thoughts on debt. Last year a debt company rang my mum and dads (I don't live at home now but obviously at some point I'd used their tel. no.) Anyway my mum, who means well I know, but is still an absolute nightmare at times, agreed to pay half the debt (£200) and would make sure she got the rest off me within a month!! My mum also gave the dragon from the agency my home tel no and my work one!! Next thing I know the dragon is on the phone to me at work - she caught me completely off guard and although I kept saying to her that I didn't want to discuss the matter at that time because I was at work it still took me about 10 mins to get rid off her. The outcome was that I burst into tears and made an idiot of myself in front of work colleagues, and I also then owed £200 to my mum who had paid the agency via her visa! My mum obviously then knew something was up and the full story came out - I'm about £25-30k in debt and the look on her face was awful. We live in a different society to the one our parents lived in (I'm 32) and my mum just couldn't believe how the debt had happened - student loans/overdrafts/repossessed house/loans etc. I felt ashamed and even more worried so think carefully if you intend to tell family!

  • yes conor i do cut their hair but the only person i can't cut is myself, yes i do get it done on the cheap by an ex colleague but as i pointed out before payplan have alloted us that money not me. it includes dentist bills, optician bills(we both wear glasses),and school lunches. if we have any money left at the end of the month then it will go as an overpayment.

hueygeorge you are quite correct his parents do come from a different age. they had my oh late in life and are closer to the age of my grandparents than my parents, they wouldn't understand and would probably demand to pay some off for us, but they would never let us forget it and would expect to be privy to all our finances in the future.
