HI it will ask for your choice of plan, choose the highest, and make sure if you want games to then you choose the one at £18. odds. It will also ask for your bak details so make sure you cancel and all discs are back to them RECORDED DELIVERY before the end of your trial, also make sure you empty your rental list before that date too. Oh and of course email them to cancel. LOl

  • is this the 3 month trial offer that came through the post? I signed up - it's to a limit of £50 so I don't think you'd be able to go for the £18, unless you did it for 2 months rather than 3. Your card won't be charged until after the trail period - just cancel before the trial is up.

Just sign up for the plan you'd be interested in after the free trial, you wont be billed untill after the trial is over but if you send back the DVD's about a week before the trial is over & cancel then you wont be charged at all!

Not sure if they warn you, doubt it. I've had the trial a few times, I always note exactly when I started my trial and when it's due to end, it tells you when it ends in your account. Click on "My Account" and the end date is where it says "Next Payment", you'll also notice on the same page it has "Package" followed with your package type, i.e. unlimited and a link to cancel.

I've always cancelled using the link. I recall someone a long time ago mentioning the cancel link is not always available, possibly something to do with time of day, i.e. if it's during office hours its not there and you have to call. I've always cancelled at night so couldn't say for sure.

Anyway, I've always noted my end date down, I personally use a program called Reminder Fox which is an add-on for mozzila firefox web browser, i simply add a reminder to it, give it a date and/or time, i usually set it to 5-7 days before the trial ends (payment date), i check to make sure it doesn't fall over a weekend (the end date, if it does i may set the reminder earlier, to ensure i wont have problems with posting dvds back.

So, i'll usualyl end up sending my last 3 rented dvds back about 5 days before the last payment date, i'll also get a certificate of posting (free) from the post office, when i started i actually got the disks (just last 3) sent recorded delivery, just incase lovefilm played the old "we never received them".

On the same day as returning the discs, I then completely clear my rental list, so it just says the 3 discs you have at home at the top. In usually a day or 2 after that I check my rental list and it will say those 3 discs have been returned, indicating that lovefilm has received them, i'll then take a picture (print screen) of that and save it, again, just incase. Then, i cancel my account by simply clicking the cancel link under "My account", and it's as simple as that.

Never had any problems from lovefilm, excellent service and i even received a free credit to entitle me to 4 discs at home at once on my current 90 trial :)
  • i got a love film voucher from tesco through it says we want to welcome you back etc etc however the small print says you cant register for free trial if you have already have one how does that work out then

just to echo what antispam has said, i personally write on my calendar a week before my next payment date a reminder to cancel and always cancel then.

i've lost count of the amount of times i've tried to squeeze a couple more discs out of the various companies and get them back by the payment date and it's gone wrong, so now i don't take any chances.

as far as lovefilm are concerned, if you've had any kind of extended free trial with them in the past, you can't have another one - and this includes "powered by lovefilm" sites as well, which tesco is one.

there is what's called a "postcode trick" that you can do to sign up again but i'm not really sure of the legality of it overall so i wouldn't post any details of it here.

    Just signed up,
    started making my list!
anyone know what packaging they come in?
i only have a little postbox instead of a letter box just hoping they will fit!
  • they come in DVD sized enveloppes (just the disc) so I'm sure they'll fit through - only a touch bigger than normal letters
    :D
  • They sometimes bundle all the discs into one of the dvd packets, so depending on your package. If it's 3, by the sounds of it, it may come to push and shove. For example, 3 dvds in one package won't fit in a post box in an airport.
