I have 3 jobs across 7 days and it is hard. I work in an office part time, I teach adults part time (often evenings) and I also work from home on AQA on the afternoons and weekends. There is also a bit of exam invigilating I've just started and also the teaching preparation , which I don't get paid for.

    It's a pain, but it's necessary unfortunately.

I worked two jobs for quite a while when things were tougher. I found it really stressful and agree that it's difficult sometimes to keep the momentum going. My solution in the end was to get more hours with my original company and over time the money increased so I went back down to one job.

All I can say is that if you are all coping fine then carry on, but don't let it get in the way of your family. I'd rather have an extra six months of paying off something rather than cause harm to my family life. You're all in it together......don't let your work pull you apart.

    Hey sweetie,

She's still really really proud of you my lovely - she just misses you - so I have two words for you honeybun: Paid Holiday.

    Book some and take it!

I have more than one job and the only way I can keep it all together is to always have some time off booked up in the near future to look forward to.

  • Heres thinking outside the box.........maybe you could cut down to one job and your OH works the weekends. She gets some kid free time and you get some kid time!

  • yep i work my main job 30 hours/week daytime incl saturdays as a chef in a hospice, and some overtime and holiday cover,
the i do 4 nights a week in a pub, until 2:30/3:30 in the morning,
but at least i can see all my bills getting paid, with money spare, and my debts going down by up to£100 a week, only £2900 to go!!
and have trained as a licensee so can see opportunites for making more money in future, it is hard and tiring and not good for relationships but if a goal and end is in sight, and you can train and up your wage then that push will pay off in the long run!
in the new year i will only have to do 15 weeks of this hard work until my loan is paid off and then i can get on with my life easier!!!!
£5000 debt cleared thanks to MSE advice :money:

Its tough, but see where your partner is coming from too. Personally, I would value a little of together or family time and maybe take a few months longer to pay the debts? life is for living too.
In the past both OH and I worked 2/3 jobs each, but luckily we had no children then. At one stage I preferred to piggyback my 2 jobs, did 9-5 in an office and then did 2 hours cleaning in another office, just round the corner from where i worked. This allowed me to work 10 hours a week extra but still have 2 days off, sometimes I would cover if staff were off and get 3 hours a night extra. I also started doing agency work on a weekend, which was great because I did have some control to choose if a shift was suitable for me and only had to do the work if nothing else was on (we did catering for events, no skills were needed).
OH took an extra job on when I was working away and he needed to pay the rent on his own for a few months. He would get back at 2am on week nights and it meant I hardly got to see him, it did but pressure on our relationship and eventually he left so we could spend time together.
Its up to you to decide what is better for you.
Eitherway, well done on paying so much debt off so quickly.

    Hi mate,
Id just like to say welcome, and good luck with evrything. Its very hard on family life working all the time but its well worth it when you can pay off your debt. But if you are now at the point were you can no longer do then dont.
Its not worth making yourself ill or damgeing your relashionship with your wife and kids. You ahve given it your best and done really well.

What ever you end up doing all the best and good luck
