Remortgage Advice Needed

Hi all,
I'm currently on a 3 year fixed rate of 4.39% which will end at the beginning of May 09. Got a few questions:
How far in advance can I arrange a new mortgage?
Would ideally like another fixed rate for 3-5years, are there any similar deals currently available as although the base rate has dropped I can't find any?
Should I leave it for a few months to see if the fixed rates drop or not?
Any help would be appreciated
