I think they are like Fitflops /mbt trainers.
They are not designed- and never claimed to make you lose weight, but they can promote it as they help with your posture, this will help you lose weight as it will help you stand properly and use more muscles doing so. If you get more muscle in your body, your body needs more energy to keep these muscles going. I think its something like 1 pound or gram or kilo (unsure on exact amount- sorry) of muscle needs 9 calories per hour more then if it were 1 pound of fat or flesh or bone.
Basically what I am trying to explain is that your body will use up more of your calories on just keeping you alive then it would otherwise if you do have more muscle- its in your interest to get more muscle and this is what these shoes are claiming to do just by wearing them- which is plausible as they do train your calves especially as they are not a totally flat sole so your constantly having to keep your balance.
Where as they do claim to also tone your stomach in the same way, it is unfortunately very easy to override your stomach doing any such work and leave it all to your legs and ankles to do.
It still builds muscle, but not always on your stomach as so many people desire. Its good to wear the shoes as they can improve your posture- forcing you to stand upright to gain balance, but you really have to remind yourself to keep your back straight etc etc, as you can find that after a few hours, you begin to slouch again...leaving all the hard work to your legs to do.
What you also have to remember is that fat lays on top of muscle, so unless you burn off that fatty layer, any muscle you gain just wont show, it will do a fair job of plumping up the fatty layer though! the biggest myth of all is that fat can turn into muscle- it cannot, they are two separate things! But if you do build up your muscle, obviously your body will need more calories to keep the muscle going which- as long as you don't eat more- can mean it takes those extra calories from your body fat.
Thats what I make of it all anyway!0 -
Starting to panic what I will wear when summer is over and my fit flops are surgically removed from my feet and found this thread. How did you all get on with the 'winter' flipflops? Anybody know of some current codes I could use, maybe Victoria Health?
Many thanksThe birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0
