Birmingham Midshires Money Management Service

Options
I had a letter the other day from my mortgage company the Birmingham Midshires asking me to get in touch for a financial review as they have just set up a Money Management helpline service for its borrowers who may be in financial distress. I told them I'm okay but I am a bit worried in case they have info on me that may be wrong. They say they have sent the same letter to all its other borrowers so I'm just enquiring whether anyone else has received such a letter?

Thanks.

A financial review is not debt counselling. It is a review of your financial requirements, such as life cover, income protection, retirement provision etc.

If I was being cynical, and with banks that is often worth being the case, they are using it as an excuse to try and flog you their insurances.

No they are definitely not trying to flog their insurances. They have set up a counselling service called Money Management and it is sent out under their name of Birmingham Midshires although when you call they say they are independant from the B'ham Midshires and all info will be kept private (yeah right). They told me this when I called them to find out why they sent me a letter. They are saying because of the credit crunch they want to help people in financial distress.

Part of my letter said the following:-

Here at the Birmingham Midshires, we have a dedicated team of experienced consultants who are committed to helping our customers avoid financial difficulties.

The letter is also telling you that you can go to the CAB and National Debtline and CCS and Payplan etc.

Hence why I am wondering if anyone else has had the same letter from them?
