irish pork contaminated

Our Tesco here in Belfast has emptied a fair bit of the pork products - I took a pack of wafer thin ham back that dh bought yesterday and they gave me a full refund - the lady in customer services said they would do the same with any pork product I had no confidence in - the ham just said Made in the EU.
I'm not too worried about what we've already eaten, but I will throw out what is in the freezer. BTW Northern Ireland is part of the UK although not part of GB so technically UK meat could come from here.
My sympathies to the farmers.“the princess jumped from the tower & she learned that she could fly all along. she never needed those wings.”

Why? With the number of countries in the EU the chances of the meat being from Ireland are small. Even if it was from Ireland the chances of it being contaminated are even smaller. Even if you did have contaminated meat, you would have to eat it for years for it to have any effect.0 -
It's reminiscent of the whole BSE crisis. Many people were afraid to eat beef.
I'm sure that if people have eaten contaminated pork they have no need to worry.
In the case the companies and food standards agencies reporting it and warning everyone (plus product withdrawls from supermarkets etc) - they have to be safe rather than sorry. In this day they cannot take any chances, even if there is minimal risk to anyone.Looking forward to the future.0
