I pod nano - want speakers need advice

I dropped into my local currys today to buy a docking station/speakers type thing for my husband - last year I bought him an Ipd nano (3rd generation I believe - the squarer one).

The SA in currys tells me this model will be virtually impossible to get anything which will connect with and suggested I replace the Ipod and buy another and speakers along with.

Needless to say I'm a shade suspicious - I was quite prepared to spend £150 or so on some speakers not planning on replacing a 12 month old I pod though.

I'm really not au fait with IPods and technology - do things move as fast as Currys suggest or are they just at it?

Have a look at the special offers on the Aldi website - I believe they have got some kind of ipod docking station on sale soon - don't know if it will fit but worth a look

I think the SA is just trying to get a sale out of you - all ipod connections are standard no matter what generation.
    Thank you all who post.

Id also give Richer Sounds a try.

They seem to have great deals on speakers.

Your iPod should have come with a plastic adapter plate which, when used with a dedicated iPod docking speaker system adapts the interface to provide a snug fit.

Never believe anything you are told in Dixon Curry's PC World.

I can recommend JBL Onstage speakers, look like a doughnut, Tesco were selling them for under £50.
That gum you like is coming back in style.
  • If your looking a good docking station with Alarm clock features for your iPhone, iPod, Nano or any of Apple's mp3 players. This has to be one of the best offers on the net, check it out!

I got a New Apple iPod classic, 120GB, Black with PURE Chronos i-Dock DAB Radio, Black for £219.95. That is a saving of £50 plus the vat rebate. Well worth it if like me your iPod has been better days.
  • I ended up in Costco on Monday and while I was there spotted various speakers. I bought Logitech Pure FI Elite for £99 + vat. Notice John Lewis have them for £145 or so so I'm happy - Tesco Direct are ripping people off to the tune of £198 for the same speakers.
Unfortunately the Bose Sound Dock which John Lewis now have at £145 wasn't there when I first looked or that would have been my choice however I'm sure what I bought will fit the bill.
    Thanks
