Could be a country wide deal or possibly only the store I went to.
Staples in Swansea are selling the 20GB Flash Trax digital multimedia storage and player for £99.99, not shown on the staples website but a description is here http://www.smartdisk.com/eWeb/smartdiskus/www/staticpages/FlashTrax1.asp
appears to be around the £200 mark most places on the web.
They had 3 still on display when I was there yesterday.
Same store also had a mint return IBM R50e laptop for £345.99

Did you buy one Roger - battery life looks a bit abysmal (3 hours...) wondering if you'd actually tried one (digicams often have short battery life unless you use NiMH).0

I did actually....had a quick play but not looked that deep into what it can do, has a build in speaker so you don't even need headphones.
recognised as a hard drive when connected to computer, file transfer of an mp3 album 70mb was quick
appears to play .avi files but currently have not checked that as I've none available.
Batery is lithium-ionWelcome, rogerramjet.

I just bought an Medion 1GB player for £24.99. WHich of the 2 would be better value for money?
I dont change my gadgets/gizmos very often, so would I be happy with this for some time to come Roger?0 -
Well if you did a quick cost per GB, the Flash Trax works out at just under £5.00 per GB so a lot cheaper. However; it all depends on whay you do with it, a 1GB player would probably be enough for a lot of people when you look at loading MP3's onto it.
The 1GB player you have is quite a bargin, especially when you see 1GB players selling around the £100.00 mark at PC World and other storesWelcome, rogerramjet.

Have read a few reviews on the FlashTrax - more of a 'digital wallet' (can copy CompactFlash cards to the disk and view piccies) with MP3 facilities. Released around 2 years ago, initial price was $500 - probably around £350... and most reviewers thought it was worth it.0
