Quitting my job

Hi all,

Well, I'm leaving my part time job, hopefully handing my notice in tomorrow when I go in. I have a few queries though;

• I've got holidays booked for next weekend (i only work weekends), do I have my notice for the day after the holiday day? - Do they have to honor them still?
• I may have around 2 days holidays left, do they have to pay those?

I'm starting my new job on the 5th Jan, fancy a few weekends off over christmas! :j

Give your notice to run from the time you give it. How much notice do you need to give? One week is the minimum but could be more depending on your contract.

If they have agreed the holiday it would be difficult to tell you now that you can't have the time off.

If you will have accrued the extra time by the time your employment ends, then yes they do need to pay you.

They have to pay you for any holiday accrued but not yet taken, so it depends on when your holiday year runs from and to, and how many days you have accrued less how many you will have taken at the time of leaving.

With regards to taking holiday during the notice period, it depends what your contract says. Some companies say no holiday may be taken during a notice period, so you best check this before assuming you can have it.
