The New S-Jays Siren In Ear Earphones - Costco £34.48

.....
I noticed today that Costco have started stocking the new headphones in the Jays range. (see below link retailing at £64.97).

Being a new model, reviews are thin on the ground, however see below.

Given the success and popularity of the other Jays models that have gone before the S-Jays, at £34.48 they have to be a good deal ...... and if you don't like them, there's never going to be a problem taking them back and getting a full refund. :)

  • Hi, I'm the Techmoan bloke and thought that I should say that I'm still enjoying these earphones. I'm really interested to see what anyone else thinks of them. It's rare for the UK to get a product first and I think that's why my 'review' is still the only one available. The Bass gets stronger after a bit of running in - definitely the best earphones I've bought so far and the Costco price is a steal.

Hi there "solidstate". I have a question- are the headphones noise cancelling? I was thinking of getting the Sennheiser CX 5000- do you know how these compare to the S-Jays? Thanks!
  • No electronic noise cancellation - just noise isolation - the rubber earplugs block extraneous background noise. Very few headphones are noise canceling - the ones that are always have a small dongle that contains a battery to run the noise canceling circuitry.
If you mean the CX-500 then these are also noise-isolating using rubber ear plugs. The S-Jays are much better than the CX-500s in every way.

    can anyone go into costco
  • I just bought a pair of these from Costco. I normally use Sennheiser CX300 earphones which I like the sound from but they are not very robust - I am on my 3rd pair!
These S-Jays come with several different sized earbuds but found that none of them fitted my ears comfortably enough to isolate outside noise meaning that I could get very little bass response. However I tried the expanding foam buds that also come with these earphones and they fit beautifully and completely isolate outside noise. The sound using the foam buds (for me) is outstanding. I am no audiophile but they are certainly a step up from my CX300's. I don't find them as comfortable as the CX300's but that may be down to my ear shape. Obviously they haven't been run in yet but the bass already is very powerfull. I'm very happy with my purchase. :T

No, here are the conditions of membership: http://www.costco.co.uk/Membership_home/membership_home.htm

However, many people become members through their place of work. Or, if you know someone who runs their own business, you could sign up through their business.
  • I wonder how those compare to my Shure E110 (18.99 from play.com)...

could you not try putting the cx300 tips on the s-jays?
i put the black foam ones on my q-jays the other night and found that the mesh thing is flush against the end of the foam, didnt fancy it like that as earwax would get it scruffy easily.
So i tried the foam tips from my er6i's, they fit but the hole you push the earphone thru is smaller than the hole of the q-jay tips, not sure if it will cause any stress on the earphone itself as it is a tight fit. will change it to the flanged tips from my er6i's, and they shouldnt cause much stress as its flexi silicon.
i had trouble with getting a perfect fit on my pair, although they supply you with 5 diff sizes, i havent actually experiemented with the other sizes, it slips out quite often and need to push it back in, but i'm gonna use the flanged ones as they were fine.

i would love a pair of the s-jays they look cool, but ive just bought the goldring gx200 :(
