Accordin to BBc moneybox .Duty on alcohol, tobacco and petrol will rise to offset the VAT cut.Anybody know if this came in to effect on Dec 1st or is it in April 2009 ,the new tax year.?

The prices so far seem to be about the same. some of the drinks are down in price due to very good offers,:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j0

The whole point was that the higher duty came in on the day the VAT reduced (ie 1 Dec).0

As Biggles correctly states ... it's linked directly to the VAT decrease. So it came in 1st Dec .... in order to stop you being foolish and saving on drinking smoking and driving!If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0
