E:06/12/04 Canon EOS 300D for under £430

As you may be aware by now, Currys have just issued a new 10% discount code for all purchases above £199. This code (AFF10PC) is only valid until 06 Decmeber.
I've been doing a bit of rummaging on their site and one particular bargain has jumped out at me. When this code was issued I was tempted to apply it to a Canon EOS300D digital SLR - already an amazingly good value digital SLR without the discount but irresistible when you realise that on top of the 10% currys discount you can also claim £100 back from Canon if you purchase this camera before 31 January 2005. Unfortunately, it was listed as out of stock.
Well, not only is this camera now back in stock, but they've reduced the price further from £599.94 to £579.94. So now you can get it for £529.94 after the 10% discount is applied and the delivery charge (£7.99) is taken into account. And with the additional £100 that you can claim back from Canon, it will effectively cost you a measly £429.94.
However, this price is only available until 06 December as that's when the 10% discount code expires.

Footnote: As if that's not cheap enough already, ThePearce has already pointed out elsewhere on this board that those of you with an egg credit card can go to Currys via the Egg site and get an additional 5% of the above price rebated to your card.

That Sir, is an absolute bargain. Many thanks for the post.
Breakfast in bed for Mrs Shaboo tomorrow and a nice foot massage in the evening.
'Oh, by the way dearest ......0 -
yep, been keeping an eye on the website all day and finally got one this evening. Didn;t realise about the egg card deal so cheers for that reestit. getting this camera for 400 quid is just incredible - tried to get Jessops to price match the amazon price earlier today - the best they would do was £659 (rebate taking it to a net £559). Been teetering on the brink for a couple of days but this deal put me over the edge.. .
ps - remember, if you don't have an egg card, go via one of the online cashback sites like greasypalm etc. .0 -

Agreed, this is a good price for the 300D.....
But if you are not in a hurry, keep an eye open for the far superior 10D which has started to drop in price already.
This has just been superseded by the new 20D, and already is available for just £689.00 from 7 Dayshop.
I have a 10D (over £1K new) and the build quality is far better then the 300D.0
