haircut in Bristol for a reasonable price

Options
I'm rather new to the Bristol area & desperately need a haircut. I'm in my early twenties & need a stylist who can create a cute, slightly edgy pixie cut (sounds easy, but sadly, I've had a number of botched cuts in the past). I really want a good cut since I have some holiday/work events to attend.

Are there any salons offering discounts at the moment? I would qualify for any student discounts, I think. Or can anyone recommend a quality salon school (where hairdressers-in-training cut hair for a lower price than a normal salon)?

Thank you in advance for any ideas.

City of Bristol College is one place, I don't know many salon training schools, don't use that kind of hairdresser!

However, my hairdresser does my fringe brilliantly: I have a 'normal' bob with what would be a fringe cut right back to my forehead so it sticks up as it grows. I don't know if that gives you any confidence - it takes a brave stylist to cut it as short as I like it, and it took me a while to find this one. She's in Shirehampton - NW - so pm me if that's a reasonable place to get to. It's on the 902 Park and Ride route, and also the Severn Beach rail line.

Oh, if you search this board for Bristol hair you should find a couple of old threads which might help too!

  • Hi BountyHunter and welcome to Bristol!
Toni and Guy do student discount I believe although they're still pretty expensive. There's one relatively cental.
In terms of student hairdressers, they are just going on their christmas break now and are back 4th or 5th January. I usally get mine done at the Reflections Training Academy on Colston Avenue, it is £7 for a cut and blow dry by a level 3 student. I've never had any problems there although they only have weekday appointments. Hope that helps.
Saving for a deposit. £5440 of £11000 saved so far:j

  • Thanks so much for the recommendations, easilydistracted & Savvy_Sue. The information regarding student hairdressers is useful - looks like I can justify getting a more expensive cut this time. :) And I'd been wondering about Toni & Guy...

I'll send you a PM, Savvy_Sue - I live near the Centre, so Shirehampton isn't really close, but I want to explore further & the promise of a talented hairdresser is a good impetus! If I don't have time to get there before Christmas, perhaps next time....
