The prices are set by Silverstone circuit themselves, so you're unlikely to find them much cheaper anywhere else.
You may want to consider going to one of the other races instead - Spa and Spain are among the cheapest to go to, even considering travel and accomodation costs. Silverstone is a very expensive weekend, It used to cost me around £400 per person when I used to go each year - accomodation is a nightmare, and if you choose not to stay and just travel for each day, you have to be prepared for huge queues in traffic.
If you do decide to stick with Silverstone though, for accomodation try one of the campsites next to the track - saves driving in each day, and only costs around £15 for the weekend. Good atmosphere there too. If camping isn't your thing, you'll probably struggle finding accomodation within Silverstone village, but I can recommend Cosgrove Park a few miles up the road - there is a decent hotel on site there that has decent rates, and the journey to the circuit isn't too bad because you avoid some of the main roads in.
Finally, if you want to take a gamble with seeing the friday and saturday sessions, stand on the embankment nearest the entrance (alongside the campsite) - there are always some Japanese tourists that leave early afternoon and will give you their tickets for that day. You'll miss the morning, but you still get a good 6 or 8 hours worth of entertainment free of charge. Of course, now that I've said that, there will be 100's of MSE people stood there :-D
My advice though would be to look into one of the european races - it does generally work out cheaper overall.0 -

Just did a rough comparison between them and buying direct, and after the currency conversion (at xe.com) they work out around £60 more expensive than buying from silverstone themselves.
I only checked one option though for comparison (Gold A Pit Straight - fri-sun).0 -
Thnx ChillPill , i have heard the same about going to another race than silverstone ..why is it sooo much more expensive ??
i will have a look around , but would prefer goig to Silverstone .. PS we were thinking of going camping there anyway ;-)0 -
I think it's more expensive for a number of reasons - the cost of running the circuit itself is higher (as are most things over here!) but mainly because Silverstone doesn't receive any kind of government help - whereas virtually every other circuit does (because it's good for tourism and bringing people to the area).
Camping is definately worthwhile though - had many a good night there. Just pray for decent weather, it's not nice when its wet!0 -
you may try and tap up some of the stewards, my missus dad does it there and gets 2 free tickets for doing the job. or you could plan on being a steward next year although i have no idea how you would do this, my missus dad was telling me a long time ago but it was boring me so i didnt listen.what is the plural of moose?
