BT DECT Handset Clock Radio < £25

BT Shareholders get sent offers of discounted BT Shop products now and then. I happened to stumble across the site when googling for something else.
Most of the offers aren't that great, but I think the Freestyle 2000 (reduced from £60 to £25 with free delivery) is quite neat and would making a good christmas present!
Freestyle 2000
This clock/radio isn't a base-station, so you'll need a GAP compatable base-station in the house to use it.
I ordered a couple yesterday, arrived today, and IMHO a very neat little unit. Radio has a digital tuner, and handset has neat features like internal dialing etc.
BTW I'm not a BT shareholder!

In answer to the questions:
1) They don't appear to check you are a shareholder. Least ways they shipped 2 phones to me, and I'm not, nor ever have been a shareholder.
2) AFAIK the handset will work with ANY brand of Gap compatible base-station. That is the point of having the Gap standard, any handset should work with any base-station so long as both follow the standard. For example I have both BT handsets registered to a Panasonic base-station, and they work fine. Handset / base-station combination even appears to allow some of the extended features to work, e.g. internally dialing one handset from another. Doesn't half make you jump when the wife phones you downstairs at silly o'clock to remind you to stop surfing and come to bed!
YMMV - Rufus0 -
This will work with ANY GAP compatible DECT base staion.
You'll need to check your handbook if you're not certain, but all recent dect phones are GAP compatible which means that any make of phone will work with other DECT base stations although you may no.t be able to access all the base stations features0 -
I've got these and they did not work with my phillips dect phones, tried everything. So bought bt ones instead
Nice phones0 -
Question:
Is the clock light on all the time.... i.e. can you see the time in the Dark?
or do you have to press a button to get the light to come on.
trying to work out whether this would make a good bedside clock or not
update : Heyyyy -- 99th post ... better make sure my next one is a wotthwhile contribution then ;D0 -
and also ..how good is the sound quality ..(im not expecting hi-fi quality)
..but i was thinking of getting a small mini system with built in alarm ..but this with the phone included ....does seem tempting0 -
The clock is dimly lit the whole time, a faint green hue with black numbers on it. Only critism of the clock is the viewing angle is quite limited. Fine as a bedside clock but if you have a lowish bedside cabinet, and you try and view it from standing, it fades to the point it is difficult to read.
Sound quality of the radio is reasonable but not excellent. It's not stereo, and the speaker isn't big enough to produce any significant base, but it doesn't sound tinny either. So perfectly acceptable as a bedside clock radio, but not a stereo replacement by any means!
