Currys Whatever Happens - different item to one specified on voucher

Hi all, I've been really lucky with the 'whatever happens' policy I think after reading some of the reviews.
Anyway, just under 3 years ago I bought a little mini hifi on sale at 50% off in Currys for just under £75. Bought the whatever happens agreement as well. For the past 2 years or so its been playing up so I finally (with 2 weeks left to run on the policy) took it in for repair on Saturday just gone.
Today in the post a letter arrives from DSG Retail saying here are my vouchers to get myself a replacement hifi to the value of £139.99. Pretty good...except I now don't want a hifi. It took up what little room I have on a shelf and to be honest I play all my cds through my dvd player.
Does anyone know if I can use the vouchers to purchase anything else as I'd really love to get my mum a little netbook/laptop but can't afford the full cost of one. With these vouchers however I could....if they're accepted?
Anyone experienced the same and could offer any advice?

Do they vouchers specify that they are for a hi-fi, or are they generic vouchers? We have removed your signature - please contact the forum team if you are not sure why - Forum Team0

Thanks all, the letter says here are your replacement vouchers in order for you to purchase a replacement hifi, however the tear off voucher doesn't state anything except the amount and my name/address. I was wondering if I could just tear it off and not show the letter or whether it needs to be removed in store because the voucher is only valid for 3 months from the date on the letter.
I guess I'll just try it and see what happens.0 -

Don't hang about though, Currys is one of the companies that are on the verge of collapse if you buy into the rumours. We have removed your signature - please contact the forum team if you are not sure why - Forum Team0

Blimey...well I'll pop in tomorrow and try it then. I'll report back on my success or lack of. If they're in that much trouble I might try blagging a free mouse or case to go with the laptop.
Thanks again.0
