PPI Headache
Hi all I am new here but would like some feedback on PPI claiming.
I am currently in a debt management program ( my own stupid fault!) and was told by the woman that i could claim back any PPI that had been sold to me attached to my loans and that all the money would come to me to spend as i liked. Great!
she got a bunch of solicitors to contact me who would do the work for me for 25% of the refund. Okay i thought it would save me the hassle so a letter has been sent to the Halifax requesting a refund.
I got a letter today from the solicitors saying that if the bank pay any monies due to me back into my loan then i would end up owing them for their work! a full 25% plus vat ( this could be thousands) More debt!
Has anybody ever had a PPI claim and the full refund paid back into their loan account to reduce the debt? if so is that totally legal?
any feedback would be much appreciated.
Maureen

Hi Maureen
So have you actually gone ahead with this then?
Are you happy to do it this way?
If not can you cancel?
You will possibly be aware you can reclaim on this totally free?
If you post on the actual PPI Reclaim - Discussion thread there is help and guidance there where myself and others will be able to do this.
To get to that link, just click on loans then you will see that mentioned thread at the top of the page.
Cheers

I would report the person who told you this from the debt management plan to her managers. She had no right doing this and is probably on a commission herself. You do not need to use any solicitors most of the time so as Di says, join the PPI reclaiming thread and lots on there to help.Hi all I am new here but would like some feedback on PPI claiming.

Hold on guys
If you are just claiming ppi premiums, well yes you may as well just use the template letters that you can find on this site.
I have never said anything other than if you have had single premium ppi added to your loan there is more than just the premium to claim back. To do this you need a professional claims company offering an ethical service. Companies charging 25% of your claim amount are ten a penny and most dont really know what they are doing.
But you do have a valid claim for compensation. Dont do it yourself, the lenders will walk all over you. Find a company that is ethical and will run your claim without you incurring further cost but will claim the full amount due to you.
Such companies are rare. But they exist.I am a former Broker, former IFA and former compliance officer, for my sins.
However, I have since seen the light.0
