I don't think I can explain it any better, but I'll try.
Your deal is coming to an end, so you automatically go on the SVR. Your letter is telling you what the SVR was at the time it was printed off - ie 5%. This is what you'd pay if you do nothing. The SVR has now gone down to 4.75% so this is what you'll pay if you do nothing.
The old tracker rate is only relevant if you have one more payment to make on your mortgage on 1 January. When exactly does your deal come to an end?
If all that is confusing, then you really do need to seek face to face help.0 -
