Hi hope someone can give me some info on this as my sister is flying out to the US this weekend, I'm looking her to pick me up some Levi jeans. What is the difference in American size ratings? I take a 34 waist 32 leg in the UK
Any help appreciated thanks

Hi
i wouldn't risk somebody getting jeans for me in the usa as the sizing is different but also the size on different styles are as well. I have got jeans i have purchased on the same day/shop put as they are different styles the size is different. sorry to tell you this maybe get her to get you some tops.0 -
I go to the USA 2 x per year. I buy levi jeans and bring them back with no probs. The good thing about the USA is that they sell in increments of 1" waist in the small - mid sizes. in lengths 30/32/34. The size is on the belt area leather label of the common designs. Try sears for a good price, marshalls (hit and miss like TK max). If you want cheap levis you can get levi signature from walmart but not trendy! They do vary in size slightly but and i have seen them that are clearly labelled wrongly. Worth checking with a measure to be sure.Cash ISA rate 6.5% fixed for 2 years. Mortgage rate 0.75% = 5.75% profit on £75K = £4500 per year:j
Mortgages make money. Definitely don't wanabee mortgage free!0 -
But are American sizes smaller than UK?0

Isn't an inch an inch??
Surely a 34 inch waist is that wherever you buy it (unless it is labelled wrongly). Or am I wrong?
It's only a game

I went to america earlier on this year... The sizes in clothes are pretty much the same i'd say... Especially if you are measuring in inches
However, If you were measuring in sizes (Eg women's jeans).. they may be slightly different0 -
I buy jeans in the US a lot, they seem to be better quality.
IN terms of sizes are you wanting here to get jeans on male or female sizes?
Male sizes are sold in waist and leg measurements, they are easy to buy, if anything they may be a bit more relaxed that some styles over here, but they are pretty accurate.
If you are looking at female sizes, then like over here they are sold by size (8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20 etc). The US sizes are different, they are a little larger, usually you go down a size, so if you are UK 12, you get US 10. If she is going to a tourist area then all she will need to do is tell the shop assistant the UK size you usually take and they will tell her what size to get. Alternatively. if they tell the SA the waist size then they can look it up.
This is also useful

If you have a mate going over there, why not ask her to ask a sales assistant- give her your measurements to hand to the SA and they should be able to work it out from there- I have not been to the US but I have heard that the majority of there store staff leave us Brits well behind- the customer service is second to none! I use a similar thing when I buy stuff from ebay- I ask the seller to measure the waist band- its rarely what is stated on the label as jeans tend to sit on the hips rather then the actual waist now adays, hence a jeans size 10 actually measuring closer to 32"0
