Am I addicted to spending?

Hello everyone,
I watched a program the other night about being addicted to sugar - and it was classic symptoms for me - I cannot stop eating cakes, biscuits, sweets and so on - and at the moment I'm not particularly trying to either; however, I'm beginning to think I am addicted to spending money!
Since the 1st of December I've stopped spending and for the first couple of days I really enjoyed the challenge, but now its day 4 and I feel terribly miserable and bored. I think it was possibly my only hobby.
I've had to turn to the drinks cabinet to try and take my mind off it, which isn't exactly a good idea.
Anyway - does anyone know, is it possible to be addicted to spending?
Thanks.

I'm sure it is - it gives you an endorphin high when you buy something - a nice little rush!
I'm now seriously addicted to running instead...keeps me busy, keeps me off the sweets and stops me spending money

I think lots of people have swapped the 'spending money' addiction to something else on the DFW forum!
Seriously though, I think you are right.
I am now addicted to this forum and every time I feel a bit low I come on here.
I used to cheer myself up buy having a little 'spend'. It didn't have to be much - even just £2 or £3 pounds would make me feel better (although sometimes it was quite a bit more.)
I definitely believe that some people have an addictive personality ('cos I'm one of them) My new addiction is here and in turn that keeps me motivated.

Hi
Yes i think it is. Its the buzz that it give you. but to keep the buzz you need to keep spending. Take your mind of it and get your buzz from doing some of the changes on here. Or how about getting a selling buzz, I get a buzz from selling on ebay. Try it!!!! and you will see what i mean. But be carfull not to buy!

I used to get a buzz from spending as a student and I "acquired" all sorts. Being a compulsive hoarder too, I ended up with wardrobes full of clothes.
You know what gives me a buzz now? Every so often I route through the drawers and piles and find a gem I completely forgot I had. It really spices up casual Fridays at work! Please continue to hold the line. Your call is very important to us and will be answered by next available robot...0
