advice sought: paid deposit, 14 weeks, still no goods

Hi,
Just looking for some advice really - we paid a deposit on a number of goods from the same retailer 14 weeks ago. They promised delivery would take a maximum of 10 weeks. We still don't have any of the goods, they've never once called us to apologize for the delay and we think they are now avoiding our phone calls
Their terms and conditions state that they do not refund deposits on furniture items (some of the items were furniture) as these have to be ordered in specially - but the goods are now 4 weeks late!
Do we have grounds to have our deposit fully refunded? Also - we paid on a credit card.
Thanks!

Yes you are intitled to a full refund. Once you have placed an oreder and paid a deposit you are entering a legally binding contract. Should you no longer want the goods then the retailer does not have to refund you your deposit. However as the retailer in this case has not supplied you with the goods/deliver them on time they are in breach of the contract so you are entilted to a full refund.
Did you get it in writting as to when the goods will be delivered? Goods should be delivered within a 'reasonable time',which could be cause for a debate. Contact trading standars and ask if 4 weeks late is classed as acceptable" I would not change you for the world, but I would change the world for you"
