  • I think those of you who are so righteously frustrated with SL would do well not to resort to racist (Scots bashing) abuse in this forum and as for those who think it prudent and worthy to threaten physical violence towards callcentre workers, you should take a long hard look at yourselves. It's the actions of so called rational people that is despicable. Don't you realise that we are ALL in the same position - albeit to a greater or lesser extent?
  • Try the Loughborough BS then! They cut mortgages by just 0.6% after the latest round to have a SVR of 6.25% and also cut savings rates by 1%. I sent a stinking letter of disgust to the CEO who said I could move my mortgage WITHOUT paying the redemption fee (I'm on a discounted rate) - it may be worth trying for anyone else? Nothing to lose (but keep it clean and quote other BS or banks who cut saying we're looking after our customers etc and quote Brown/Darling).

Loughborough are still evaluating the latest cut. (SVR = 6.25%, Lloyds and Nationwide currently 4.0%)
    I don't believe it!

Take it that the post threatening violence has been removed then. Certainly can't find it's existence on this thread.
  • I'm with Standard Life and have a discounted variable rate offset with them, and I am flipping furious about this. We have one year left to run, and then I will be moving and never using them for any sort of financial product ever again.

I'm just so cross about all of this. It has not just been the refusal to pass on even half of the rate cut, it has also been the 2 month delay and lack of information as to when they would actually be making a decision.

One very disgruntled and in one year ex-SL customer.
  • I can't believe that they have only passed on a 0.8% cut, especially after delaying their decision for over 5 weeks. Bottom of the table from as far as I can see (BBC). I have e-mailed them direct to voice my disgust and the UK treasury too! They have no chance of retaining my custom now or in the future! Yet another unhappy SL customer.
  • Hi,

I work for Standard Life mortgages and I am as thoroughly sick of them as the rest of their customers are as well. I also have my mortgage there (as many staff members do) and am tied in with a partial fixed rate til 2010 with the rest on SVR and it's disgusting that they've done nothing about it until now and when they have done it's a derisory 0.8%!! So as a customer as well I know exactly how you feel. Please can I ask tho that when you call to complain (as you are quite right to do so) please take it easy on the call centre staff as we are just as frustrated as you - please direct your anger to the people in charge of setting the rates and write to them to see if you can shame them into doing something more about it!!
  • Perhaps Standard Life is trying to loose its mortgage customers? - if that's the case, its doing a good job at achieving this. They started out as such a good organisation - loads of offers, helpful, etc. - now that all seems to have all changed. I am thinking about remortgaging - but with a relatively small mortgage outstanding - I am not sure tha its worthwhile - in any event all the decent tracker rates seem to have gone now.

    Hi,

    One question(s) for you please.
How concerned do you think SL management is about negative publicity they getting at this moment ?
Are they aware of this thread ? If not, which SL e-mail should we post a link to this thread and explain that we are not happy with their decission?
I would sugest everybody from this thread to send them an e-mail and tell them we found their SVR is one of the highest and they are not doing good enough for their customers . We expect from them not the lowest SVR but at least to be with the mainstream.

There is already a petition to "force mortgage lenders to pass on 100% of interest rate cuts to borrowers, instead of profiting from those burdened by debt"
it is here - so come on you lot get signing!

I've signed the petition. Come on everyone.

And keep this on the front page - as a reminder of SL's poor treatment of their customers.

I did not say that the threat existed in a post. Certainly there is a world outside this forum. To reiterate, everyone is affected by the current financial climate, righteous indignation and free speech is one thing, however perspective should be sought.
