readitswapit....great site to exchange your books

Options
In the past few months there have been a few posts about swaping things amongst ourselves but it's against the site rules. This is a very good alternative for book exchanges, it's called readitswapit.
You list the books that you want to swap and then either look around for a book you'd like to swap with or wait till someone approaches you to swap their book. You can decline if there is nothing on their list that you fancy. The only expense is posting off your book.

I have HOLsale to thank for pointing this out a few weeks ago - I've had a great time with it!

  • Hi Holsale, I found this site for general swaps - don't know if it works or not http://myswap.co.uk

thanks for the link AT but i won't use that site, they have the gall to charge fees!

i used to swap on bobs free stuff forum but i am wanting to reach a larger audience, uk wide

many things wouldn't be worth listing if you have to pay a fee on them

what i'd like is a forum where everyone can have their own lists (preferaably dividing the list into sections, makes it easier for the viewers) then they get pm'ed when someone wants to swap who then shows their own list etc

i approached the read it swap it people to ask if i could use their script as a basis for this kind of system and they didn't have the decency to even reply back

i've been trying for years to set something like this up but everything has petered out sadly

my frugal genius buy/sell/trade group and the forpostageonly groups are ok but i hate yahoo to be honest, it's so slow and disorganised and forums are much better if you can't do it via a website

actually upon futher inspection of that site, i'd stay clear of it

you can't actually find out what the fees are!

it keeps saying it's in their terms but it's not

then it says before you register something it will let you review the fee, that's a load of bull hockey, i just did a garbled gobbly gook post and it registered it without showing me any types of fees

i think they're a con to be honest, i don't even think it's legal to charge fees without making them quite plainly evident and easy to find

people like that make me so angry grrrrrrrrrr

nothing against you AT... i've tried a few UK swap sites but they've all been out to make cash and sadly lacking... i want a free swaps forum, for everyone

I hope you can get it organised. I actually picked the link up from the swapit site, it was one of their adverts.

    no worries

appearantly it's free to swap right now, they sent me a rather rude letter stating as much however their 'fine print' clearly states that they charge fees and they won't tell me what they are or what they will be

wouldn't touch them with a bargepole

it's a shame though, i really want something like this to happen as it's really good for people to get things they need cheaply...

    you're welcome :D

can't remember who told me about it but i'm glad they did as i've swapped some books i couldn't get rid of any other way!

i've also secured a few titles specifically to sell on, since the people approached me and didnt' have anything on their list i wanted other than those i figured that was ok

    check out https://www.yoursecretforum.co.uk

They do a swapit section where u list what u got and what u want. Site also lists freebies, similar (but not the same as) this one.
They also have https://www.yoursecretcode.co.uk which is like a cashback site but you get prizes and stuff instead. PM me for more details.
