Help !!!!! Debt free looking for first mortage

We are at the moment debt free ( what i mean by that is we dont have any debts like credit cards, store cards ,personal loans, finance of any description, ) we only pay usual debts like rent, bills e.t.c. We are now thinking of a house buying for the first time we are both in our late thirties and we would like to make sure we choose a good deal that we can gain from as the first few years will be the hardest any advice as to what type of mortgage, to which lenders offer good rates to first timers and what pitfalls to look out for will be of great help..

There is no 'best' answer as everyones situation is different. Your best bet would be to contact a broker and they will run through the options. There are also a few who roam wild on the forums here who might be able to point you in the right direction.
