Yeh, but could have had a job running a B&B :D

They are struggling! I think BB in areas where the americans and japanese visit are going good gongs but they don't tend to venture South West of Cheltenham and Stonehenge.

Just seen your post Stevie about the stockmarket - indeed - lets hope the didn't STR and put it all into shares. Different story.

Who would have thought we'd be seeing a graph with a steeper fall than house prices?

    Doesn't smack of panic, much.
It'd be interesting to see that on a 100-year scale.

Halifax are pretty good at delivering the Coup de grace on rates day, if there were any members opposing the 1%, the house figures saw them off :D
Any member opposing the rate drop would probably have had a very big man in a smart suit standing opposite him and looking very intently at said member.

I scraped the beans back into the can .... can't be having such extravagences now!

PN you cant take your money with you, dont feel guilty about having the odd decent meal or two. I bet gordy is not feeling guilty that he has screwed up treasury.

Totally out of the question. Most people think that but the house would have needed a lot of investment - and you can't really run a B&B on your own, it takes a couple. Also, I don't communicate well with people, and it's a people-centric business.

It's also VERY seasonal .... in an area where tourism's probably just dropped off a cliff.

Ahh PN you look at the problems not the solutions :p Only kidding :D

Kaya, make sure you use the money very wisely.
Just remember how fast and deep they have cut the rates because you can bank on the fact that if Gordy gets re-elected they will have to rise even higher than the 5.75 peak a very short time ago.

Who do you expect BOE action to show results in minutes? this is designed to provide economic stimulus over the next two years. This is not about the housing market!

    Totally agree.

So what would be so wrong about waiting for the previous 0.5% and 1.5% reductions to have some time to take effect?

Because the reductions are based on what they can "get away with" if we did 2.5% last month the markets would have thought we were mad.

Get over it CF rates need to come down. Am I off "ignore" again.;)
