how far in advance can i sign up to new mortgage lender?

my current discount rate expires in the middle of april so i was wondering when the best time would be to start looking at a switch.

    As a lot of the offers from high street lenders can be short term, it isn't worth trying to arrange anything definite till about 6 weeks before your current deal ends.

    In between now & April different offers may come & go, so probably best to work out who may possibly offer the best deal for when the time comes, but keep checking each month to see if things have changed.
    The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

    I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

    I would suggest looking now and checking with each scheme if there is a date by which you would have to complete the re-mortgage.

    There are some lenders that are tweaking their fixed rates downwards
