How can I contact my bank and sort out my finances while living abroad?

I live in Turkey.

I have two bank accounts back in the UK - both are overdrawn unfortunately.

I don't have online banking. I need to do some things like cancel direct debits and try to sort out a way of slowly paying off the overdrafts out of my salary from here.

Is there anyway I can contact the bank, without having to call them? I don't have a phone here, and it's going to be a logistical nightmare + horrendous cost to call their 0845 numbers. I went to the Halifax website and it seemed as though only customers with online banking have the option of emailing them.

Can anyone advise me please?

I assume you have internet access since you have posted here! So I suggest you sign up for online banking now and sort it that way?
I lived in the States for several years and did all my banking online and had no problems.

I did think there was a number that was for calls from overseas? Should work out cheaper.

On the home page there is an option for registering, have you tried that?

Otherwise it may be worth biting the bullet to call them and get your accounts sorted. May work out cheaper than the bank charges for an unauthorised overdraft
