    Oh it's not so much the newsletter, as the option to receive it or not.

    I mean, if they force you to subscribe anyway, why give us the option? A few others do this. If I ran my own competition, I'd at least grey out the box so you couldn't disable the tick, or better yet, don't have a checkbox. Just tell the visitor that they're going to get a newsletter!

    I agree, from a comper's point of view.

    Some do do that, but not many of them - I guess that they think that it is bad marketing form. That's what comps are about, after all. They want to give a good impression of the product.
