I know this may be the wrong board - but its worth a shot!!
Guys
At the risk of sounding middle aged, can I implore you all to buy 1 thing for Xmas. Although it is a Terry Wogan record, it is this years essential buy.
If you aren't aware Terry Wogan is the main driver behind BBC's Children in Need Charity which raises millions every year in the UK for childrens causes. This year Terry instigated a CD with all the BBC radio presenters doing covers of well known songs. Terry along with Aled Jones did a cover of the famous Bowie/Bing Crosbie version of the Little Drummer Boy. In the last few weeks Chris Evans, who is the drive time DJ on Radio 2 has been really pushing to get the audience to petition to have Terry's song released as a single. Bending under huge public pressure the BBC have given in and the single comes out on 8/12/08. It is available on download or as a single from Play.com, Amazon and all the usual outlets. Check out the naff video on the Radio 2 website at:
LITTLE DRUMMER BOY
Trust me its terrible but heartfelt.
While in itself this is very noble and infinitely admirable there is an alternative motive. For the last 4-5 years we have been plagued in the UK with X Factor (talent show by Simon Cowell) singles storming the XMas Nr 1 promoting Cowell's self indulgent personnality. There is a huge push on to make sure X Factor doesn't get Nr 1 and in the same action support Children in Need. This will be huge if it comes off.
If you can, wherever you are in the world can you please:
Buy a single or download of the song! Give it to your Mum or Gran or worst enemy if you have to - just buy one
Lets help the kids and not Simon Cowell.
Merry Christmas to one and all
