Don't want to hijack the thread, but how has life been after your discharge? Mine comes up in a few months and was just wondering if I will notice any changes.0

Well, the only thing is I can't open a savings account with my own bank (co-op), even a really basic one, but this is partly because I think they think i am a risk and partly because there hasn't been wages going in regularly. Had big problems with my work and transferring wages account.
I managed to open a basic one with sainsburys but then couldn't supply all the necessary paperwork to finalise it (as a lodger there were no bills in my name and stuff like that). Not been able to open one elsewhere so far.
I was discharged, I think, a month or 6 weeks early than the official date. It would have been earlier but I was away when the form from the OR came and you have to get it back within 7 days or something, so look out for it, you never know.
Its completely changed my life, although obviously I wish I had never had to do it.
A good change is I don't have to mention it all the time when trying to apply for bank accounts/savings etc, although its coming up because I'm having trouble opening a saver.
I was thinking of writing to student loans as I remember hearing of a case (on here i think) of the SLC still taking money out of wages because of a blip in communication between them and the OR.
Hope that helps:)0
