Debt that isnt correct

Hi

I had an account with Three mobile over a year ago and it had ended at the beginning of last year.

I have recieved a couple of letters from a debt collection agency asking for almost £300.00. I do not owe them this money, although i had a contract with them the amount on there was cleared by one of the representative over a year ago, it also shows up as satisffied and the balance as nil on both of my credit reports.

I am in the process of trying to repair my credit rating and pay off my debt, but i refuse to pay for something that i don't owe money for.

What can i do about this.

Carli

Do you have a reciept or letter stating that the account is satisfied by 3 mobile?

If not ... call up 3 mobile and ask them to contact this debt company/or send you a letter stating the account it satisfied....

then forward a copy of the letter via recorded delivery to the agency trying to collect, then they have no grounds to try to collect for a debt twice and you should hear no more from them

    HTH :)

    EDIT:

Just re-read your post...was 'your account with them' with the debt collection agency, in which you state a representative dealt with it and it was cleared/satisfied?

If so you need a copy of the final settlement/account cleared letter they would have sent you....and like i said b4 send a copy to them via recorded delivery
