Hello,
I bought some half price cinnamon & raisin bagels from Sainsburys and had one for breakfast toasted with butter but found it a bit dense and hard work to get through. Threw the packaging away but remember it did have some ideas for using it as a dessert - think it involved mascarpone but not sure I'd like that. Does anyone have any ideas?
I thought I could halve and toast it and serve with warmed HM applesauce. (I have tubs of this in the freezer and don't really know what to do with it)
What else could you think of? It it my first attempt at bagels...
Thanks
Sparkly

Bread and butter pudding?
Sponge for trifle?0 -
You could slice them in half again so you have 4 thin disks instead of 2 thick ones and toast them just the same. They'll be more 'toastie' then.
Don't know of anything else though.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -
Put philadelphia on them - makes them easier to get through and very very nice!
(please slap my wrists for the non-moneysaving-non-o/s answer!)

What about bread pudding? There are a few recipes here:

What about this?
I read this in a book of packed lunch suggestions for kids. You slice the bagel vertically into little discs and use to make tiny sandwiches.
Or, bread and butter pud as someone already suggested.0 -
With regards to your applesauce glut!!

The bake time listed is for the bundt pan so adjust accordingly if you use a loaf pan.I think this is best eaten within the first day or two. It seemed to dry out quickly.

Cheese and apple is such a terrific flavour combination, not traditionally appearing in a cookie!

- Cream butter, 1/3 c white sugar and vanilla together; blend in grated cheese and applesauce.
- Stir in the flour/salt mixture; shape dough into crescents.
- Combine 1/2 c sugar and the cinnamon; roll each crescent in this mixture.
- Spray a baking sheet with non-stick cooking spray and arrange crescents on sheet; bake in a preheated 350F oven for 12 to 15 minutes.
