Real Norway 6ft Christmas Trees for < £10 at B&Q

Just bought a real 6ft Norway Christmas Tree for £9.98 at B and Q!
They seem to be much more than this elsewhere - caution - the tree holders are £24!! You over 60s would get a further 10pc off this on a Wednesday..

Very pleased with my purchase.:rotfl:

Buy a big plastic plant pot, cover it with wrapping paper e.g. silver and fill it with sand. Used to work for us till we started buying trees with bases !
  • Dont b and q do those orange buckets for a pound and decorate it with gift wrap and no one would know.

    I've been Money Tipped!
I thought the news said a while ago real trees were going to be really expensive this year!
  • You could always try a cast iron Parasol base, the type we have for the summer.I'm sure it only cost us about £8. But they may be scarce at the moment with it being winter? Good luck

The base is tricky - not sure how good sand and a bucket would be as you would not be able to water the tree....mind you perhaps the tree could live off wet sand!!

Hi things to watch - they buy them in huge bulk - we bought one of these last year and because they cut them so early AND they don't cut them on an angle (they expect you to do this when you get it home - however it's a nightmare unless you have an electric saw!) and our tree died before Xmas day! Also, because they cut them straight and too soon, the bottom seals itself and it won't pick up water unless you cut some off.

We dressed it and it looked fab but by Xmas day it had reduced to half its size, drooped badly and all the baubles/tinsel started falling off!

I have found (to my cost) that the best thing to do is go to a local farmers or a place where they cut the trees down, sell them, cut some more, sell them etc.
if i had known then what i know now

You're right, it says on label that the base needs cutting - managed to get some liquid to add to water that supposidely prelongs the life of the tree and stops needles falling off (I'll believe it when i see it) but no good if the tree won't up take the water! thanks for your post AMH999
